Letters from the Equator

Boon’s view from here

I haven’t finished reading a book in a long time. …

I haven’t finished reading a book in a long time. The last time I checked, I was reading at least 5 books that I was planning to finish, and I haven’t touched any of them for weeks. No, the bible isn’t one of them. But I finished reading a biography on George Müller, who was known best for his orphanage in Bristol during the 19th century. It really inspired me to pray for all things, and to know that God does answer all prayers, and even (especially) the crazy ones. As long as we are in right relationship with him, we will continue to see great things happening.

Ikea is having a preview sale on Thursday. I’m taking leave on that day just to go and buy stuff…. oh well, yes I’m crazy. And not just for the meatballs.

I saw Shrek 2 today. It a worthy sequel, probably because it did have an original storyline, and the jokes weren’t that stale. I especially enjoyed that the gingerbreadman, the three blind mice, and other well known fairy tale folks had bigger roles to play. I don’t know how obvious it was to viewers that the couple were going to end up ….. erm… well….. where they ended up (not wanting to spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it)….. but I didn’t expect it as much. So, I admit I was taken by surprise, but I guess this _is_ a Dreamworks production.

I haven’t posted it on the blog yet, but I’m taking a supplement called Transfer Factor, which goes its rounds in the market thru a direct selling or multi-level marketing company called 4Life. After reading up about it, I decided to give it a try. Basically, it was found that it is possible to ‘educate’ the immune system by promoting it to identify and combat hostile agents more effectively. This is done by taking these molecules known as transfer factors from one host to the recipient.

So, anyway… it’s supposed to help ‘calm’ down my over-reactive immune system, which causes my skin flare-ups and the like. And I’m on my 3rd week of this stuff… and I’ve taken photos at the end of each week to see how I’m reacting to it (you don’t wanna see it). I guess, just like any natural product (this stuff comes from cow’s collostrum), it takes a little longer to kick in, but I am feeling a little better, though not dramatically. For one, I’ve been off corticosteroids ever since I started on this thing. And my skin hasn’t really relapsed too badly. I had one week of steroid withdrawal or whatever you wanna call it… and then I think my skin is starting to heal better. The sores on my feet isn’t doing as well as well as the one on my arm, but I’m at least encouraged to see my right arm not exploding in red blisters and sores after 3 weeks. I’m honestly amazed… cos usually without steroid, I usually never get to see epidermis.
