one versus a thousand

I was thinking to myself the other day, whether we worthlessly chase after dreams of our own design. After allowing ourselves to sit comfortably within our own sphere of autonomy, our minds begin to forge the future, each step a detailed stroke unto the painting of our finished lives. But the cost at which we survive our ordeals to gain this is a good guess at best. What becomes in the end?
By faith we count to ourselves at least 70 years to our lives, some even 80 and beyond. On accounts of pre-mature deaths – we treat it against our hopes and move forward, continuing to toil the day set before us. This is a generalization, of course, and merely to set the tone.
I’m thankful that I’m thankful for my own set of circumstances. I haven’t yet lost the people I love, and moreover they are within reach. If there’s one thing that will sustain the human race, it’s about relationships, and what it takes to preserve and nurture it.
Hopefully I remember not to take my time for granted each day.
