I went to Saray tonight, a Turkish restaurant located on a small road right next to Sheraton Imperial. Though I thought the food was ok, Lee Lian didn’t think too much of it. And at RM30 per head, I guess i kind of agree with her. We could’ve better spent that money elsewhere.
The chicken soup was okay, and the Turkish home-made soup was a little bland. The lemonita or lemonade tasted like regular lemonade. They have a selection of kebabs which are quite commendable, and the meat is quite good… but I think they could’ve done better with it… like make the meat more tender and juicy… i mean, cooks should know how to bring out a flavor of any particular ingredient. But I don’t know… I’m not a cook. Lee Lian said it was dry.
My beef stew was quite tender. It was basically (not enough of) chunks of beef on this paste-like thing, which tastes just like mashed potatoes, but not. They serve a yoghurt drink that’s the sour kind and not the sweet, and the apple tea is delicious…. both either served warm or iced. The baklava was okay. I’ve had much better baklava.. but that was in Kansas. The turkish coffee erm… I guess depending on whether your standard of coffee is like mine, was good. Just don’t drink the grounds that have sunk to the bottom.
