lately i’ve had a fetish
sis gave me an ipod mini as a gift before our wedding day, and though i wasn’t really thinking of indulging in ipod madness like the rest of the world, i’m now trapped in ipod limbo.
i spent more money than i should have on ipod accessories, when i was down in singapore for a post-honeymoon trip. in fact, that was probably all the shopping i did, apart from some boxer shorts and shirts.
but it was worth it. i now have a silver mini, and running alongside it is the griffin itrip mini. and to top it off, i got an in-car charger for the thing, so i wouldn’t have to worry about my battery going flat all the time. i really do spend half of my life in the car.
one thing that concerned me at first was the poor sound quality coming from the itrip. when i first started using it, i was dissapointed with the results… having moved from one receiver to another. in the car, the results were slightly better, as i was able to get a cleaner signal, but it wasn’t until i got it transmitting at 105.1kHz that i hit that sweet spot. so it turns out the itrip wasn’t an inferior product. sound quality really isn’t bad. i mean, if you need some reference, take the best sounding FM station you have, and the itrip should be able to top that.
one thing i didn’t find while reading reviews on the mini was that the earphones that come in the box isn’t really that great. i mean, it’s not bad, but i would’ve expected apple to provide better earphones that would take advantage of the ipod’s quality output.
so in place of the white ultra cool earphones, i am using the earphones that came with my riovolt cd-mp3 player which got stolen a year ago. and maybe if i’m a little zealous, i may just decide to carry more weight with my audio technica ATH-FC7.
i almost decided to get a Sony Nude-Ex in-ear earphone, but i’m not sure i want to block out the world around me while i listen to my music. what if i can’t hear an car heading toward my direction? or a big monster terrorizing the city? ignorance is not bliss.
