Ever since I got myself a set of wheels a year ago, I’ve been browsing a lot more on the subject of cars. There’s a lot of information on the internet, so they say, but back in the day (in the 90s), there was very little local content to begin with. Most of the activities took place (if ever) on private bulletin boards or IRC channels, and a lot of information from seemingly random people who seemed to know their stuff were never properly documented or summarized. nowadays a lot of malaysians find themselves wasting hours in text-based slow-reply conversations known as forums, and wisened up to the search button. that includes me.

here are just a few local forums where lots of men who like cars hang out…
occasionally there are women.

ZerotoHundred
i think this is one of the bigger Malaysian automobile forums out there of about 10,000 members, but is mainly serving the motorsport community. zerotohundred has a large following and boasts active users who frequently meet and organize events.

Autoworld Malaysia
this site is actually a used car portal, much like motor trader, but with better facilities in terms of a web site. its forum boasts about 31,000 members and growing.

International Auto Sound Challenge Association
i never really realized that malaysia would have so many car audio enthusiasts until i found this forum. basically, i was googling for some local content on head units, and i found myself here. check out how they score for their annual auto sound competition… kind of scary.

Kelisa and Kenari Owner’s Club
Apparently it’s hard to isolate discussion on specific cars on ‘general’ forums. So, there are a lot of ‘clubs’ where a lot of domain-specific groups hang out. This is one of them. Initially, I had frequented this forum a lot because I own a Kelisa. Then I later needed more ‘general’ content about cars.

BMW Club Malaysia
Ever since my dad got an E30 318i recently I’ve been reading a lot on BMWs, and there’s a huge wealth of it here in this forum. It really helps to know where to find help locally, especially on topics like workshops and spare parts. And even more so if you own a really old car.

Here are other domain specific malaysian forums…

Italia Auto Club
Fiat and Alfa Romeo enthusiasts unite!

Waja Performance Club
born out of the autoworld waja forum… i just found this on google.

Satria GTI Club

and most of the rest can be found here:
