love or luck?

two days ago, i had a ‘minor’ mishap during lunch hour. i backed into a car at slow speed, but that was enough to crack my right rear lamp, and send me worrying about repair costs. deep in thought, i complained to god about why this happened. after already paying a parking fine and forking out a few hundred dollars because of some miscommunication with guy who helped us with the wedding video (he was a relative of the bride’s, so we didn’t make a big fuss out of it), i was feeling really stretched.
the lamp was going to cost me RM179, and that doesn’t include installation costs. thank goodness the bumper was ok, though the scratch is quite apparent. anyway, i couldn’t stand the feeling of driving with a cracked lamp, so i left the office early with the permission of my supervisor and headed for the workshop. but when i got to the workshop, they lady said the shop was closed for the day.
for some reason, i decided not to go home after that. instead, i went to the local Brother’s car accessories shop. i wanted to pick up some scratch removal solution to soothe my ailing heart. when i got there i realized that they also sold spare parts like headlamps and rearlamps…. and i found a replacement for only RM88!
i thanked the Lord for this, and i went home and got the tools out and fixed the thing myself in no time. now i have a spankin’ new rear lamp and a lesson not to back the car in haste.
incidentally, the author of a christian blog i’ve been reading also sort of went through a similar predicament to his vehicle. it made me think about what god was thinking about all of this… and he really hears our cries and helps soothe the pain sometimes, though he doesn’t take it away like magic.
