earthquake

It seems there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.2 in nothern Sumatra, Indonesia, just an hour ago (12.09 a.m. Malaysian time, to be exact… +8 GMT). Some ex-colleagues of mine felt the tremor. My cousin just IMed me about it, too. No news on the internet, yet… except for the Worldwide Earthquake Locator and a few other places, that is.
update:
The U.S. Geological Survey has reevaluated the magnitude to be around 8.7. Some 300 people in western Indonesia have died as a result of the earthquake.
About 70 percent of houses in the town of Gunungsitoli on Nias were destroyed, AP cited local police as saying early today. The island, a popular destination for surfers, was hit by the Dec. 26 disaster with more than 300 people killed and 10,000 left homeless, AP said. link
I didn’t feel anything when it happened, but I guess maybe cause I wasn’t in a high rise apartment. I just hope and pray that we’ll all be safe, and that the damage done will not be worsened.
First, and earthquake right after Christmas. Next, another earthquake right after Easter. I do not believe these events to be coincidental. There’s something happening, and we need to respond appropriately.
