Traditionally, an affogato drink is made of ice cream and a shot of espresso. But the Starbucks variant is a Frappucino based drink, with an equal amount of espresso and smothered with a choice of either chocolate or caramel syrup.
If I had known it was a Frappucino, I wouldn’t have bothered ordering it. Because it tasted just like a Frappucino. I would have preferred it if Starbucks do a traditional ice-cream-soaked-in-a-shot deal.
But anyway, I paid my RM11 or whatever it was… proper homage to high coffee franchise margins… and at least I could taste the caramel.
Maybe they should have given me two shots of espresso instead of one. But I admit that I ordered decaf. It was late.
Anyway, I won’t tell you to avoid this one… because I assume it’ll be around for a long time. But I know I won’t be needing a Frappucino of any variant for any occasion.
