mall in the desert
You know, I half expected this place to be deserted, but the Alamanda mall at Putrajaya was packed with people, even on a workday. Where did these people come from anyway? Maybe all the toll exits keep them confined within the desert for indefinite periods of time.
They have a Carrefour. That’s where a bunch of us were shopping for a fridge and microwave for the new office. Lots of families, I thought. And college students. They even have a bowling alley.
Needless to say, with the lavish use of our tax money, the shopping experience had been on par with Suria, KLCC. Even the parking lots were better than 2Utama (cramped) or Midvalley’s (maze). But then, midvalley has one of the worst parking lots for a mall that size. Oh wait.. is Summit still considered a mall?
And the food court has been the best looking one to my experience, not counting the ones at Central Station, NY, and the museums at Washington, D.C…. (don’t ever eat from the Nasi Padang stall, I implore you).
Okay, so I guess Putrajaya would be that capacious oasis in the middle of the desert, but it’s still a desert to me.
