oi lunchtime
I used to work in the application development department in my previous company, and 90% of the engineers would cater food instead of going out to eat. One of the advantages for that was low cost. The other advantage was time. You didn’t have to spend a lot of money and effort to go out and get food.
But to me, it was really boring and the office walls were really drab after awhile. And even though we had internet connection and it was totally fine to surf the web for fun, it still reminded me of work, and I had to get out for some air.
I like working in KL, because with a car, there are so many places you can go to get food. I find that it adds more years to my life to go out wandering to some new place with a friend or colleague for lunch, than catering food and staring at my monitor browsing websites.
I don’t get to do that very much anymore. Cyberjaya is a pretty secluded place. There’s dengkil, and the food court (which is expensive and bad), the street mall, MMU, the food courts of other buildings, Sri Kembangan, Puchong, and Cyberia Homes. There’s Alamanda, too… but it’s just like the food court except you pay even more.
There’s even a catering service from a guy who delivers all the way from Puchong. I wanted to get the phone numbers of other caterers, because I was getting bored of the same old catered food @ Cyber, and I managed to get one… but it turned out to the be same guy who caters food from Puchong. When we called him, we introduced ourselves and he realized that we were thinking he was a new source for catered food and he got offended….. “in Cyberjaya, no one else caters food besides me!”, he bloated pridefully.
Oh well, it sucks to be here.
