a year in retrospect

I’m so thankful that I have managed to attend the very last Friday cell group of the year. UKH’s message was really a godsend in preparation for the next year, and with all that has been happening to my life lately, has given me reason to press on for good.

The memories that have taken place this year include my marriage to Lee Lian, my wonderful wife and friend, my tenure with the only rich-thin client solution provider in the region, and a growing love for cars.

In January this year, Lee Lian and I got married before a host of wonderful friends and relatives. I’m glad that it wasn’t glittery and surreal, but that there was a familiar odor and sight of people whom we knew. I thank God for all of them, and remember that He created all of them and intended for us to live with one another as a community. That was really the celebrative message of the whole event. We rejoice in cherishing those memories.

Being married has met a lot of my expectations. It definitely is the kind of relationship I longed for that was not possible when we were not married. And it was a good time for us to get hitched. I thank God that he made it possible.

I went on from what I thought was a small company to an even smaller company. I got my wish to build enterprise applications. I got my wish to build cutting edge web applications. I got my wish to lead a team. I got my wish to earn more than RM3k. But some bad things happened, and there’s a lot of uncertainty now. It’s not the worst case scenario, but it is a disaster in many ways. I could’ve been without a salary, but it was a miracle that a solution came about. And the people that I work with have been really great people. And that’s really the most important thing. Next year will hold more promise.

The only thing I learned about cars after so many months is that they are an absolute distraction. They’re enjoyable on a regular basis, but man… so much of my time and thoughts have gone into something I am not ready to invest in. I have wasted a lot. Still, I did manage to upgrade my rims and tyres, absorbers and keep my ride as smooth as I could have it. For now I don’t want to spend anymore, it would just be a waste.

So……….. that’s the year in a nutshell. More commentaries to come.
