long post well overdue
January 26th, 2006 by boon
I will be spending my last day at my current company tomorrow. I will be joining a “proper” MNC for the first time in my career. It is a miracle from God. The timing couldn’t be better:
1. job offer came just in time as my current company is performing a staff switchover by the end of January
2. my starting date is the week just after my trip to Bangkok
Plus, I didn’t feel that I was at a loss. The work sounds really exciting, the renumeration is very attractive, the long-term avenues are good, and there is possibility of travel to some really cool places. Plus, I’ve been told that the culture and work environment is really sweet, apart from the fact that I won’t be leaving the desert.
An interesting way to start the year.
Too bad the apartment still isn’t ready yet. Wife and I attended a meeting with the property developer and other apartment owners, and the stipulated completion date is May this year. More promises from the management, as usual… and we’re not in a position to demand anything as of yet. The S&P period states April 2006, before we can claim for compensation. From now on, it’s much better to purchase units that have already been built. A well-established place in the future can be costly and unpredictable.
Part of me really wants to spend proper time thinking of ways to improve the interior, but part of me just wants to wait and see how the apartment would look like. I’ve stopped puchasing items for the new home, seeing that my mom’s attic is now full of our stuff, in anticipation of moving day.
But I’ve been experimenting with a few things. I decided to move the bed to one side of our bedroom, to create a separation between the work and rest place. We’re not really good at organizing and filing our stuff, and a lot of documents and books are haphazardly placed in all sorts of places. That one, I need to spend time thinking through properly. We just don’t have a lot of space to work with, which is the main point of my frustration. Apologies to my wife for helping me to clean up the mess and put up with my odd ideas.
I hope the holidays will give me time to work on this.
