I recently realized that worshipping God is meant to be an outward expression to God, not an inward injection to receive God’s manifest presence. Perhaps I had been deceived by the mainstream depiction of youth raising hands in some kind of experience of worship.

Worship is not about the experience. It’s about giving glory to God. It’s just a bit sad that it took me a few years to realize that there was nothing wrong with not feeling touched by God during worship, since the point of worship is about quite the opposite. It’s in giving worship to God that I receive, and not before (and sometimes not after).

Somehow, knowing that has made all the difference to me.
