moving with the times

Age hit me right at about 23, somewhere around September a few years ago. I seriously forgot how old I was, and I had sworn I was 23, when I was 24. Or was it 25? Anyway, it doesn’t matter now.
I just got a dandy gadget that has me divided between two generations. I used to think it made people look gay, but I think kids dig it. I’ve had at least one young man tell me so.
But I have to admit that despite the questionable aesthetics of augmented devices, this one has been really helpful. I find that I don’t have to use my hand to hold the phone, and the mere result of that simply blows my mind away. The left half of my brain is going “ok-weird-please take it off now” while my right side is basking in multitasking atrophy.
I also find that I’m making more voice calls than I’m receiving them. Hopefully, this will last another good month or so, when people start to find me more disturbing.
But I use it everywhere now. The first day was just in the car. I would shut it off when I got out, and turn it on when I was in. And then I gave up shutting it off and turning it on. Apparently it lasts at least four days. My friend who does the shut-off-turn-on thing has two weeks on it.
But anyway….. I use it in the office now, so I’m officially a dork-geek-nerd all over. But I get more stuff done in short spurts of time… like, say… 5 minutes. And you would go, “yeah, you just saved 5 minutes of your life”. But the result of that is extreeeemely satisfying. You get to do two or more things at once.
I’m already starting getting odd remarks from the don’t-have-its, and I still have to admit it makes me look gay when it’s on me and I’m not using it, but dang…. that’s going to get old pretty soon, just you wait.
(you can stop laughing now)
