Article 11 forums to discuss inter-faith issues must stop immediately because they are deemed to cause tension in our multi-religious society, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.
I used to have more respect for the prime minister, but I don’t know now. I’m not against the fact that tension can occur, as it may well. I’m talking about the lack of maturity that the government has displayed in dealing with these issues.
The reason why there was a forum in the first place was to seek some basis for resolution, but apparently it sounds as if the government views it as some kind of phase that’s due to pass away eventually. It looks as though they don’t want any part in the resolution of these issues except that everything stays the same.
Well, I hope that the forum continues to blossom. This is only the beginning. May justice prevail.
