Monmouth Coffee

This is my tribute blog to Monmouth Coffee, which my wife and I found on Monmouth Street around the SOHO area in London. It’s just a walk away from Seven Dials, if you know where that is.
This little shop specializes in hand-picked high-quality imported coffees from around the world, supplemented with juicy pastries and wonderful choc delights, some of which are seasonal.
I love coffee not because it wakes me up. I think I love it because I have fond memories of that gazing-out-the-window, pensive mood moments, and the right cup was a companion, not an aftertaste.
Actually, for this same reason, I tend to avoid Starbucks… who tend to use merchandizing instead of proper coffee to simulate that effect.
Monmouth doesn’t do that. It clearly is a very coffee coffee shop. The staff are knowledgeable on their coffees. The variety of coffee types are tantilizing. And the whole place has a very cosy, woody interior… almost too inviting.
And even if you don’t like the place, you’ll like the coffee.
I am almost saddened that I have not yet found a proper coffee shop in KL yet, save for various joints that serve ILLY (and only ILLY).
Any recommendations are welcome.
