I went for dinner at a new place called “Chicken Hot Pot” tonight with my in-laws. It’s located somewhere around the Kuchai Lama area.

I don’t know what the dishes are called, but they specialize in claypot meats dishes with chicken, pork and beef… which are then “transformed” into a steamboat-style dish, after some soup is poured into the claypot.

Basically, you start out with a claypot dish. There are a few types of dishes, with a variety of meats, and they all go with white rice.

After you finish the meats, what’s left over is the sauce, some cut up veggies and herbs. That’s when you pour the soup in and get some cold food from the freezer to dump into the soup, like fishballs and egg and egg noodles and veggies or whatever they have there.

It’s quite an interesting meal, or “two” meals… one claypot, another steamboat style. And apparently it’s a franchise from China, so there’s been some kind of following already. The drinks aren’t too bad, either.
