Rasa Sayang Malaysian Restaurant, Chinatown, London

I have been to this restaurant twice, and the food is good by Malaysian standards. However, on my second visit (which was tonight) – I found out that you need to spend a minimum of £6 per person to eat in.
They must be paying a bomb for rental. Plus, the first time I went there, our char koay teow came after 1 hour. The waiters are frantic and busy – they don’t have time to smile at you – they are polite but they don’t smile, and they don’t bother to explain why £6 is justified to the customer – who is left to decide whether to eat more or leave.
I’m taking my business to other restaurants. I’ve decided that not eating Malaysian food isn’t a big deal in this big city that serves up a lot of other stuff that’s more worthy of the customer’s interest.
You have the cash and can decide whether the Stg 6 per head is fair or not. Stg 6 minimum per head is OK if it is not on top of the food and drink bill. Stg 6 per head per meal is OK, I feel. It is nice to eat Malaysian food once in a while, I guess if you are up in London and away from home for too long. Alterntive is to go to your Uncle James’ house and eat some noodles. He cooks great food.
