I made ‘tau eu kay’

I learnt today that chicken should not be put back into the freezer after it has thawed, and that the meat contains moisture so that if you put it into broths or soups, the water content increases.
It’s indirectly related to the tau eu kay I made today, which is very Nonya, like my background (yeah, [...]

I just made Char Koay Teow

Ok I had a craving for CKT and I went out and bought the hor fun and I was hunting for belacan but I couldn’t find it. I also assumed I couldn’t find sambal, so I settled for “chili oil” which happens to have prawns inside - so ok… let’s see how that goes.
I grabbed [...]

Wishing my friends were here

It’s starting to get a little lonely at Cardwell Terrace. It feels nice and cosy inside, but the lack of giant mirrors makes me wonder if the world has left me behind in the day. This has largely avoided me resulting from my preoccupation with assignments due in a week and a few days. At [...]

This is my photo tribute to Ibu Oka, the famous babi guling stall in Ubud, Bali. Good visuals help to prepare the meal, [...]

Potatoes, Carrots, Oxtail!, originally uploaded by jaremfan.
Big car fans, a big portion of the Malaysian population, indulge in a relatively passive sport I call “car-gazing”. It’s kind of [...]

Khunthai Thai Restaurant

Tomyam and kangkung belacan
Originally uploaded by jaremfan.

I found a really good Thai restaurant in PJ in Section 5, near PJ Old Town and Jalan Gasing. It’s right behind the park (that hosts a bird event every weekend) that’s adjacent to the Templer roundabout . There weren’t many reviews on it, so I decided [...]

Black Canyon Coffee for Malaysia

I’m quite a fan of Bangkok, Thailand. I must make mention one of its derivatives - Black Canyon Coffee, which has recently appeared in some Klang Valley spots. I just got back from the one at Summit, USJ, with LL.
She reported the pad thai isn’t as good as the [...]

I got one! Bialetti Mukka Express: Cappuccino

Bialetti Mukka Express: Cappuccino
Originally uploaded by Martin Bravenboer.

For some odd reason, emotion got the better half of me, and I decided to go buy the Bialetti Mukka Express Cappucino maker. I blogged about my initial discovery a few months ago, when I had dinner at Neroteca with LL.
It operates in the same fashion [...]

Brazillian Churrascaria - Damansara Jaya

LinguiƧa
Originally uploaded by Maria Castro.

ES, MVO, WL, LL and I finally got around to having a meal at “Carnaval”, which serves Brazillian Churrascaria in my humble hometown of Damansara Jaya.
ES had a craving for it a few weeks now, and we decided to all hop on an opportunity for some good chow. I’m [...]

K3K Benta Kaya - SUCKS

Thumbs down!
Originally uploaded by Brooklyn Hilary.

After the negative food review for Eat Workshop, I present to you something even worse:
K3K Benta Kaya (from Kuala Lipis, Pahang) in SS15, Subang Jaya, near Taylors College.
Apart from the lovely decor, interesting indoor/outdoor facade, and over-friendly and over-zealous staff, this place SUCKS.
I had this ayam goreng rice [...]
